Description
In this Inheritance Lab, your Biology students will apply their knowledge of Mendel’s Principles and a variety of inheritance patterns to determine genotypes of 14 traits in imaginary creatures called Keiki. Then, they get to build their own Keiki and show off the phenotypes!
Students will . . .
-Flip coins to simulate the Principle of Segregation and record the alleles that are inherited from two Keiki parents
-Translate those genotypes into phenotypes based on these inheritance patterns:
- Mendelian (dominant/recessive) Inheritance
- Codominance
- Intermediate inheritance
- Multiple Alleles
- Polygenic Inheritance
- X-linked Inheritance
-Construct their very own unique KEIKI using simple materials such as colored paper and chenille stems.
