Description
In this Data Collection Activity, students work in small groups to PERUSE (examine, inspect & study) a pumpkin or other squash. And, they will practice important skills such as observation, communication, measuring, and recording both qualitative and quantitative data in the process!
Grab some pumpkins and some measuring tools and have some semi-serious fun in the lab. This activity is a perfect way to get the most out of leftover squash after Halloween, Thanksgiving or other Fall Festivities.
Students will . . .
- describe the color, shape and other distinctive markings of their pumpkin
- measure height, width, mass, volume, circumference, and diameter of their pumpkin
- draw, color and label their pumpkin
